What can I expect during my visit?
When you come in, we’ll take a quick look at your medical history, get your consent, and discuss any concerns or goals you have for your foot care. The session will last about 30 minutes and includes cutting, filing, and thinning your toenails. We will also take care of any corns or calluses and give your feet and skin a thorough check. At the end of your visit, we'll provide any recommendations we feel would help improve your foot health.
Is it painful?
Not at all! We are experienced in working with seniors and take a gentle approach to make sure you're comfortable throughout the process.
Will I bleed?
Bleeding is very rare, less than 1%. We want you to come back, and we take every step to ensure your visit is as smooth as possible.
I’ve neglected my feet for years and feel embarrassed.
There’s absolutely no need to feel ashamed. That’s exactly why we’re here – to help you feel good again and get back to walking comfortably.
Do you care for diabetic patients?
Yes, we regularly work with individuals who have diabetes. It’s especially important for anyone with diabetes to see a qualified foot care provider regularly to prevent infections and other foot problems.
Can you treat fungal or thick nails?
Yes, we can! We will thin out those nails, often providing immediate relief from discomfort.
Can you tell if my nails are fungal?
As nurses, we can’t officially diagnose fungal infections, but we can provide care and recommend seeing a doctor if we notice anything that might need further attention.
Do you sterilize your tools?
Yes, all of our tools are either single-use or thoroughly sterilized for your safety. We have enough equipment to ensure each client gets their own set of tools for every visit.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, Stride RN is a licensed business, and we carry comprehensive liability insurance to ensure your peace of mind.
How much does it cost?
Please contact us at (402) 413-0216 or email us at emily@strideRN.com to get the latest pricing and availability in your area.
Do you accept insurance or Medicare?
We don’t accept insurance or Medicare at this time, as our self-pay policy helps us keep costs low for everyone. However, some insurance plans may cover routine foot care. Our services tend to be more affordable than most deductibles, and we provide 30 minutes of personalized care. If you'd like, you can compare our prices with your podiatrist to see the difference.
How do I schedule an appointment for myself, my parent, or grandparent?
Just give us a call at (402) 413-0216, and we’ll help you find a nearby location and set up an appointment.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
Please let us know as soon as you can, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. We do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, and late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee.
Can you trim fingernails?
We’d be happy to trim your fingernails as well. Just let us know when you book your appointment, and we’ll add that service.
Do I need to soak my feet before my appointment?
No, you don’t need to soak your feet beforehand. We’ll take care of everything when you arrive.
Do you have a physical office?
We don’t have a traditional office. Instead, we provide services throughout southeast Nebraska, visiting senior centers, senior living facilities, pharmacies, and doctor’s offices.
Do I need to be a member of a senior center to make an appointment?
It depends on the senior center. Please reach out to us, and we’ll let you know which centers require membership.
How are you different from a podiatrist?
Podiatrists specialize in diagnosing and treating foot and ankle conditions. Some podiatrists offer routine foot care like nail trimming, but this may be billed to you or through insurance. We focus on providing consistent, routine foot care, and if we notice anything outside our expertise, we will recommend seeing a podiatrist or other medical professional.
What do podiatrists think of the foot care nurse industry?
As with any new service, some podiatrists welcome us, while others may not. We are simply here to give you more choices in how you take care of your feet. You can visit both a podiatrist and use our services if you choose. Many podiatrists actually appreciate our role in helping manage routine foot care so they can focus on more specialized treatment.
Do you make orthotics?
No, we don’t make orthotics. If you need them, we can help you find a professional who does.
Is it safe to get a pedicure at the nail salon?
While pedicures can be relaxing, they can be risky for seniors, especially if you have conditions like diabetes or poor circulation. We recommend doing your research on the salon and ensuring the technicians are trained to work with senior clients. Our focus is on foot health, so we encourage you to prioritize that when considering pedicures.
Do you polish nails?
No, as a medical-based service, our focus is on the health of your feet. Nail polish can sometimes hide problems or promote bacteria growth, so we avoid it.
What if I have nail polish on?
If you have regular nail polish, we’ll remove it for you so we can properly assess the health of your nails. If it’s gel polish, we ask that you visit a salon to have it removed first, as the gel can affect our tools and extend the time needed for your appointment.
